Accomplished International Civil Litigation Attorneys

Resolving disputes between individuals and businesses worldwide

For more than 30 years, Charles H. Camp has resolved client disputes through a creative approach that involves an innovative use of international laws and practices. Mr. Camp is an accomplished commercial and civil litigator, representing individuals and businesses in transnational disputes. He works with an accomplished team of atorneys and consultants to handle litigation in U.S. courts, frequently in New York, and calls upon the assistance of foreign co-counsel to handle litigation in other countries.

Understanding international civil litigation

International civil litigation is litigation for or against foreign parties, including individuals and businesses. International litigation may also involve foreign sovereigns, but these cases are more complex and generally can only be brought under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.

International litigation is far more complex than domestic civil litigation. Even establishing jurisdiction and affecting service of process over a foreign defendant can be extremely complicated. Once a case begins, an attorney must gather the necessary evidence through discovery or other means. When necessary and appropriate, the firm uses intelligence contacts to gather evidence that is not obtained through discovery because of difficult parties or other issues. One area in which this practice comes in handy is researching the U.S. branches of foreign bank accounts with sufficient debtor funds to fulfill a judgment once it is obtained.
